Aitana Bonmatí still 'The Best'
For the second year in a row Aitana Bonmatí has taken the The Best FIFA Women's Player award, consolidating her position as one of the important female players in the world. The prize for her performances was awarded to Aitana by Jill Ellis, former USA international, coach and two time World Cup winner.
A season replete with success...
The 2023/24 season was a remarkable one for Aitana. The midfielder was a key figure in helping Barça Women to no less than four trophies during the campaign - the Spanish Super Cup, the league title, the Copa de la Reina after victory over Real Sociedad, and most notably, another Champions League victory following the win over Olympique Lyonnais in May, with Aitana being named player of the match.
International success
On an international level, Aitana also made huge contribution to Spain's success. The Barça midfielder was named player of the tournament in the national side's victorious 2023 World Cup campaign, player of the match in the 2024 Nations League final, and was part of the squad that finished fourth in the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Aitana's success means a fourth in the row in the category for Barça Women. Alexia Putellas was named 'The Best' in 2021 and 2022, and now Aitana Bonmatí has been successful in the 2024 awards, following on from her win in 2023.
