Nine games, nine wins. This was never going to be an easy game against the side with the meanest defence in the Liga F, but Barça went to Atlético Madrid and got the job done in a thoroughly impressive display.
Barça took the game by the horns, and struck early, with Graham Hansen providing some tremendous footwork in the build-up for Ballon d'Or winner Aitana to score her 100th goal in the blaugrana jersey.
It could have been two had it not been a top save from the Atlético keeper just a minute later, but as the half way went by, the home side couldn't manage a single shot on goal. Barça eventually doubled up in first half injury time when Graham Hansen powered in from 20 metres, her shot helped by a deflection off a defender that scuppered the Lola Gallardo in the Atlético goal.
In control
In the 53rd minute it was all over when Patri headed in a corner to make it 3-0, her second goal in as many games. The intensity naturally dropped after the third goal, and on the hour mark, Atlético registered their first goal attempt of the game. Barça professionally held out for the remaining minutes and can come home feeling very pleased with themselves indeed.
Next up is the first Clásico of the season away to Real Madrid. That's on Saturday 16 November at 8pm CEST.
