Alexia Putellas has done it again. This Saturday her sixth minute penalty against Eibar means she has equalled Luis Suárez as the third highest goalscorer in Barça history with 198 goals, and moves within just two of the 200 barrier.
She scored her first Barça goal in 2012/13, on the day of her debut. Goal 25 came in the Copa de la Reina final of 2014 in Ceuta, number 50 away to Oviedo in 2015/16, number 75 in 2017/18 at Santa Teresa, and the magic 100 against Madrid CFF in April 2019.
125 was at home to Rayo Vallecano in 2021, the 150th early in 2021/22 at Villarreal, and 175 at Camp Nou in the famous Champions League game with Wolfsburg. Her 182th goal that overtook Jenni Hermoso to make her the women's team's highest ever scorer was netted at Atlético Madrid last season.
Her next challenge is to catch César Rodríguez, the second highest goalscorer in Barça history with 232, and as a 30-year-old with a contract until 2026, she has every chance of achieving exactly that.
But getting anywhere near the 672 goals that Leo Messi scored is a tad more difficult. Not just for her, but anyone!
