Barça 2-0 Atlètico Madrid: Back to winning ways

A good win at Estadi Johan Cruyff, as FC Barcelona defeated Atlético Madrid 2-0 in front of a crowd of 5,289 fans, Paralluelo and Vicky grabbing the goals that ensured the win. A special day too as the Club celebrated the International Day against Homophobia in Sport, an annual event every 19 February.

Salma breaks the deadlock

Both teams started the game well at the Estadi Johan Cruyff, so much so that the usual blaugrana power up front was being frustrated by a very well organised side in red-and-white.

The breakthrough finally came through Salma Paralluelo after 39 minutes, the forward finishing to the right of Lola Gallardo after a lovely move with Esmee Brugts. Halftime score 1-0.

Vicky grabs the decisive second

The blaugranes pushed on for more in the second half, having a number of efforts, but Gallardo time and again proved vital for the visitors. She was well positioned to hold an Aitana header right in front of goal (min.61) before a later denying a Patri effort (min.74).

With just one goal in it and Gallardo in good form, there was always a chance the visitors could match Levante's result in the previous game, but substitute Vicky had other ideas. An Ona Batlle shot fell to her in front of goal and she quickly slid it under Gallardo for the decisive second goal (2-0, min 76), which ultimately proved enough to get back to winning ways after the draw last time out in the Liga F.
