Barça Women 5-0 Eibar: Goalfest in the Johan

The blaugranes overwhelmed Eibar in the Estadi Johan Cruyff, taking a 5-0 victory in which all the goals were scored after the break. The Basque side showed great resilience in defence in the first half but in the second a quick fire hat-trick from Esmee Brugts plus goals from Caroline Graham Hansen and Ari Arias secured a comfortable win for Jonatan Giráldez's team. 

Dominating possession 

Barça, as is usual, came out with the intention of dominating possession against Eibar. The visitors showed themselves to be disciplined in defence yet Claudia Pina came very close to opening the scoring on a couple of occasions in the first half, her second attempt coming back off the crossbar.  

Jonatan Giráldez's team continued to lay siege to their opponents' goals with Aitana Bonmatí and Lucía Corrales testing Eibar keeper Amaia Peña. Bonmatí again went close right on the stroke of half time with a shot that flew just over the bar. 

In the second half the blaugranes upped the tempo and Mariona and Marta went close before Caroline Grahan Hansen finally broke the deadlock with an excellent solo effort that went in off the crossbar on 57 minutes. Just a minute later Graham Hansen turned provider for Dutch midfielder Esmee Brugts to score her first goal for Barça with a clever back heel. Brugts was in the right place at the right time just after the hour mark to make it 3-0 with a good finish. The best was still to come for Brugts as the 20 year old completed her hat-trick thanks to good work down the left from Lucía Corrales. Three goals in eight minutes, a dream game for the Netherlands international. 

With Barça 4-0 up, youngster Aria Arias came on to make her debut for the first team and marked the occasion with Barça's fifth of the game to round off an excellent afternoon for Jonatan Giráldez's team.
