Barça 2-0 Montpellier: Win in preparation for the new season

Another pre-season win for Barça Women. The blaugranes overcame Montpellier 2-0, Caño and Martret scoring the goals. This was the second friendly win for Jonatan Giráldez' side after the 3-0 win against AEM Lleida.

The blaugrana coach is giving a lot of pitch time to young players this pre-season and they are making the most of it. Barça's next game will be the Gamper game against Juventus on Thursday 24 August.

Caño gets the ball rolling

The best possible start to this friendly for Jonatan Giráldez' players, with Alba Caño scoring after just one minute, pouncing on a rebound at the edge of the area to shoot Barça in front.

The blaugranes continued to push and Bruna Vilamala went close twice, first with a curling shot that hit the crossbar before having a goal ruled out for offside.

Montpellier tried to make the most of the home side's high line for counterattacks. In fact, Gordon hit the post after moving well into space. Half-time came with Barça one goal up.

Martret seals the win

The blaugranas came out after the break in search of another goal, Ari Arias' effort saved by the goalkeeper after a rebound fell her way.

The second half saw Jonatan Giráldez give game time to many young players to gain some experience with the first team, including a notable contribution from Dragoni, with the Italian international showing energy in midfield and driving the blaugrana attack.

With the game almost up, Barça scored to make it 2-0 after Lucia Corrales crossed from the left for Laia Martret to score, sealing another pre-season friendly win.
