Benfica 2-6 Barça: Through to the quarter finals
Victory in Portugal sealed qualification for the quarter finals of this season's Champions League for Jonatan Giráldez's Barça Wome side, the 6-2 win against Benfica seeing them into the knock out stages with still a game to go in the group stages.
Barça will have the chance to top the group if they can better Bayern Munich's result when they meet Swedish side Rosengard at Spotify Camp Nou on 21 December.
Great start to the game
The game could not have started better for the blaugranes as after just seven minutes of the game in Lisbon, Irene Paredes put Barça ahead. A cross from Aitana Bonmatí was turned home by the Basque midfielder to make it 1-0.
The visitors continued to dominate and Aitana Bonmatí went close on a couple of occasions before Clàudia Pina finally grabbed the second for Barça right on the stroke of half time.
Goals galore in the second half
The second half saw Aitana Bonmatí finally get her reward with a fine shot to make it 3-0 after 47 minutes, her fifth goal in this season's competition. With a comfortable lead, Barça began to enjoy themselves and Crnogorčević added a fourth on 58 minutes.
Benfica, to their credit, did not give up and Jéssica Silva pulled one back for the home side shortly after the hour mark. The Portuguese side could have reduced the deficit even further had Sandra Paños not saved Raysla's penalty in spectacular fashion.
The goals, nevertheless, kept coming and an own goal from Seica made it 5-1 to the blaugranes. In the 82nd minute Lacasse made it 5-2 before Mariona added a sixth in injury time for Barça. There was still enough time for Sandra Paños to save her second penalty of the match, this time from Vitória.
