“After 13 years at the club, I think my time has come. It’s the end of one era and the start of another. I’m so proud of everything that I’ve achieved and want to thank the fans for all their support.”
Leila Ouahabi was announcing her farewell to the FC Barcelona women’s team, telling Barça TV that “I have always tried to do my very best and to be as positive as I could.”
“I am leaving safe in the knowledge that I achieved everything that I set out to do” said the 29-year-old, who came up through the youth system and made her debut in the 2010/11 season. After three years in Valencia, she came back in 2016 to consolidate her place as one of the best wing-backs in the Spanish game.
In nine seasons, Leila has played 199 games and scored seven goals, her honours including five leagues and one Champions League.
