Barça have won the Copa de la Reina for the seventh time! They have beaten EDF Logroño 3-0 in today’s final at La Rosaleda, and mean the third league and cup double for the team – this in reality being the 2019/20 final, which was originally postponed due to Covid-19. That season is now officially over, with the ladies also lifting the Spanish Super Cup and Copa Catalunya trophies.
Barça dominated from start to finish, but the side from La Rioja proved very hard to break down, with a former Barça star in Pamela Tajonar doing a tremendous job in goal. Chance after chance had gone begging and were heading for a goalless first half when a penalty on Alexia, and converted by the same player, finally put the blaugrana on course. Quickly after Aitana fired in from long range and suddenly it was 2-0 at the break!
Logroño could find very little to respond to that, although Barça still struggled to extend their lead. Jennifer Hermoso scored the only goal of the second half, stylishly heading in a Leila cross just after the hour mark.
