Ousmane Dembélé has been training this week with some of his new FC Barcelona team-mates and has the chance to learn what it’s like to be coached by Ernesto Valverde.
While the bulk of his colleagues are still away on international duty, the French striker has been getting used to his new surroundings and a new city, and also took time out to give us this interview, which reveals a lot about the summer signing’s personal side.
“I’m a fun, jokey kind of guy” he tells us. “I had a happy a childhood, living in Évreux until I was 13, where I have a lot of friends and memories.”
“My family is very important to me. My mother has always been there for me.”
He also explains that he first started out playing futsal. “You need a lot of skill to play that game” he says.
He adds that one of the things that most attracts him about the city of Barcelona is the beach, as well as the ‘amazing atmosphere’ at the Camp Nou. He’s always followed the team, and claims not to have missed a match since the 2003/04 season.
“I really liked David Villa but my favourite player is Leo Messi. I love the famous tiki-taka way that Barça plays”.
