You cannot talk about Leo Messi without talking about records. In Barça’s most recent league encounter the blaugrana number 10 scored in the 36th different stadium in La Liga, the Estadi Montilivi in the 2-0 win against Girona. With his latest effort Messi has now scored in seven straight league games and leads the race for the pichichi (top scorer in La Liga) and for the Golden Shoe (top scorer in European league football).
Messi leaves his mark all across the country
On Sunday Messi added Montilivi to the list of stadiums in which the Argentine has scored in La Liga. Deportivo La Coruña’s ground of Riazor is where the number 10 has had most success, scoring a total of 13 goals. In second place is Real Madrid’s home, the Santiago Bernabéu, where his record reads 11 goals.
Huesca’s home of El Alcoraz, where he will play for the first time in mid-April, and the Atlético’s new home of the Wanda Metropolitano, are the only stadiums in the First Division where he has not found the net up until now.
Leader in the race for the Golden Shoe
Leo Messi now has 19 goals in the league, one more than PSG striker Mbappé and four more than his Barça team mate Luis Suárez. The Argentine’s run of scoring in seven straight league matches has given him the edge in the race to be top scorer in La Liga in across Europe. Messi now has 328 wins in the league with only former Barça keeper Andoni Zubizarreta (333) and Iker Casillas (334) ahead of him on the all-time list.
