Once again Leo Messi has shown he is quite simply the greatest player of all time. And once again he will be picking up a Golden Shoe as the top goalscorer — Messi scored 34 goals last season in La Liga — in all of Europe's domestic leagues. It is the fifth time he has earned that distinction, more than any other player in history.
Third straight Golden Shoe
While it is his fifth overall, it's the third year in a row he is taking home the gilded boot. Here are his La Liga goal totals for each year he has won it:

Barça tops in Golden Shoes
With Messi's 5th, the Club now has seven overall, the most all time. Luis Suárez won it in 2015/16 and Ronaldo won it in 1996/97.
