With such a busy September which will have seen FC Barcelona play seven games across league and Champions League, Luis Enrique is making full use of his abundant squad.
Rafinha was the one who benefited from the rotation system in Saturday’s 5–1 win over Leganés, as the Brazilian midfielder cracked the starting XI for the first time this season and repaid his boss by scoring Barça's final goal of the day with a long-range, left-footed strike that may well have been the goal of the game.
In goal, as well as Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Jasper Cillessen has also played, making his debut against Alaves, leaving only Jordi Masip as the only player yet to start a match this season.
As well as 21 others in the current squad, Claudio Bravo and Munir, who have since moved on to Manchester City and Valencia respectively, also started games.
Rotations are thought to remain a common theme with such a vast amount of games coming up in order to keep the squad fresh and recharged.
Leo Messi and Sergio Busquets have started the most games, with six each – the Argentine was on the bench against Alavés while the Spanish international midfielder sat out the game at Leganés.
Suárez, Piqué, Rakitic and Umtiti have started five games each, followed by Denis, Mascherano, Jordi Alba and Sergi Roberto with four.
