FC Barcelona manager Luis Enrique was naturally delighted that his side have not only made certain of a place in the last sixteen of the Champions League, but will be going through as group winners. “I congratulate the team for qualifying” he said after the 2-0 defeat of Celtic. “To do that with a game in hand in one of the toughest groups in the competition is something to be commended.”
“The game followed the pattern we had planned for” he continued. “My players were attentive in all areas and were clinical over the last few metres, where Messi was as good as he always is”.
The Asturian also explained that “I substituted Neymar Jr to give him a bit of a rest” and reacted positively to Marlon’s debut, saying that “he’s a physically strong player and he did really well out there”.
And finally, in reference to the amazing noise generated for all 90 minutes at Celtic Park on Wednesday night, Luis Enrique commented that “this is one the nicest atmospheres in any stadium in Europe.”
