A win for Brazil (0-2) with a Barça seal at the Spartak Stadium in Moscow. Great combination play between Phillipe Coutinho and Paulinho allowed the latter to open the scoring in the 36th minute of the match against Serbia. The Blaugrana and Brazil's No.15 got on the end of a great assist from Coutinho, who continues to be the Canarinha’s best player at the World Cup.
It was the first goal for Paulinho in a World Cup, since in the 2014 edition he didn’t score even though he played six games under Felipe Scolari. With this win, Brazil finish as leader of Group E ahead of Switzerland, and they will now face Mexico, and ex-Barça player Rafa Márquez, in the Round of 16.
For the third consecutive World Cup, the reigning champions are knocked out at the group stage. Ter Stegen's Germany lost 2-0 against South Korea, a result which, when added to Sweden’s 3-0 win over Mexico, means both of the latter teams go through.
