FC Barcelona go into the final game of the league season on Sunday knowing that only a win will do against Eibar at the Camp Nou (8.00pm CET) to stand any chance of winning the title
Despite it being his final home match as manager, Luis Enrique was more interested in the three points at stake rather than sentimental, though he did reserve some special words about his time with the club. Here is what the manager had to say:
On Eibar:
“It will be tough because Eibar are playing for their highest league finish in the top flight and the way they play, pressuring high up the field, will make things difficult."
Luis Enrique nevertheless believes his side is “ready to solve the problems” that Eibar pose and is confident that they will “pick up the three points”.
On the title:
“At this level, the line between success and failure is very small. We are focused on a key game which is crucial to winning the league.”
On his time with the club:
“I am very proud to have formed part of the club’s history and to have given my all. I am grateful to the club for my eight years as a player and the three as manager, I am privileged.”
“It’s not goodbye, but rather a “see you later”. Next year I will be back at the Camp Nou as a member and enjoy the games.”
“I don’t only consider myself a Barça fan, but I also have a special regard for Catalonia. I only have words of appreciation.”
