FC Barcelona are through to the last four in the Champions League, where they will again be playing the second leg away from home

FC Barcelona have beaten Borussia Dortmund 5-3 on aggregate and are through to the semi-finals of the Champions League for the first time since 2019 and the night of that horror defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.

17th semi-finals

This is the seventeenth time that the Catalans have made it this far in Europe's premier club competition, with a mixed bag of results over the years. On seven occasions they have gone on to contest the grand final, but the other nine times they missed out. Here's a reminder of the previous games.

- European Cup 1959/60 vs Real Madrid (lost on aggregate: 2-6)

- European Cup 1960/61 vs Hamburg (won 1-0 in a playoff in Brussels after the two legs ended tied). 

- European Cup 1974/75 vs Leeds (lost on aggregate: 2-3)

- European Cup 1985/86 vs Göteborg (drew on aggregate: 3-3, won on penalties) 

- Champions League 1993/94 vs Porto (won 3-0 at Camp Nou)

- Champions League 2001/02 vs Real Madrid (lost on aggregate: 1-3)

- Champions League 2005/06 vs Milan (won on aggregate: 1-0)

- Champions League 2007/08 vs Manchester United (lost on aggregate: 0-1)

- Champions League 2008/09 vs Chelsea (drew on aggregate 1-1, won on away goals)

- Champions League 2009/10 vs Inter (lost on aggregate: 2-3)

- Champions League 2010/11 vs Real Madrid (won on aggregate: 3-1)

- Champions League 2011/12 vs Chelsea (lost on aggregate: 2-3)

- Champions League 2012/13 vs Bayern (lost on aggregate: 0-7)

- Champions League 2014/15 vs Bayern (won on aggregate: 5-3)

- Champions League 2018/19 vs Liverpool (lost on aggregate: 3-4)

* In 1991/92 there were no semi-finals, with FC Barcelona qualifying directly for the final after winning a group ahead of Sparta Prague, Benfica and Dinamo Kyiv.
