Wojciech Szczęsny: 'We have to think about winning the game'

The FC Barcelona goalkeeper intent on avoiding complacency in his pre-game press appearance ahead of the Champions League second leg against Borussia Dortmund

The countdown is on for the second leg of Barça's Champions League quarter final tie against Borussia Dortmund in Germany. On Monday Barça coach Hansi Flick and goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny appeared before the press in Dortmund ahead of Tuesday's 9pm CEST kick off in the Signal Iduna Park stadium.

The Polish goalkeeper explained that the game will be "a big one for the team and also for me." Adding, "we want to do the best we can."

"We have played against some tough teams and tomorrow we will do so again. Everyone thinks this is over but it is not. If we let them, they have a chance. For that reason we have to focussed and go for it. We have to think about winning the game," said Szczęsny.

The keeper went on to say that this season has been a "privilege" for him. "Months ago I was retired and now I am playing in one of the best teams in Europe. Winning is what I like most. I would never have imagined that after retiring I would have the chance to win these competitions. My dream has been to win the Champions League and I hope it comes true," he continued.

Szczęsny finished by confessing his delight at the "support of the fans" and adding: "I always try to come across in a calm fashion and keep the younger players relaxed."
