What a year 2025 is turning out to be. Halfway through April and still unbeaten. What more could we want? This Saturday, Butarque was the stage as the overall unbeaten run was extended to 24 games.
That's the fifth longest unbeaten run in club history. And who knows how much longer the wonderful form is going to continue?
The streak is now the same length as the one under Frank Rijkaard in 2005/2006. The numbers are exactly the same, 20 wins and four draws, the Dutchman's run starting with a 2-2 draw with Valencia and lasting through to a 2-0 win over Alavés, in a season that club won the Liga and Champions League double.
More challenges ahead
But there have still been other runs even longer than either of those. The next challenge is to beat a run that dates somewhat further back, to the tenure of Marinus Michels in 1973/1974. That was a 27-match spree, and Barça will need to avoid defeat to Borussia Dortmund, Celta and Mallorca to match that.

The biggest run ever was under Luis Enrique in 2015/16, a massive 39 games. Hansi Flick could still beat that, but not this season he can't. There aren't enough matches left. If it were to happen, it wouldn't be until the 2025/26 season kicks in.
