Hansi Flick aiming to 'keep advancing'

The FC Barcelona coach is delighted to have guided the team so far in the Champions League, and now only intends to take them further and further into the competition

"I have always said that we are allowed to dream" said FC Barcelona coach Hansi Flick in his press conference ahead of the Champions League quarter final with Borussia Dortmund (Wednesday 9pm CEST). "But we players and coaches have to be realistic." Flick knows that tomorrow's opposition are not to be sniffed at, and being from the same country he knows that perfectly well. "Dortmund are a very stable team and they play very attacking football" he commented.

"But we have been playing well at home and away in the Champions League" he continued. "it is always good to get a nice result in your own ground, but especially in the cup semi-finals against Atlético Madrid, we showed that we can also win games away from the Estadi Olímpic."

The job now, above all else, is "to continue advancing in the competition. It hasn't been easy to get here and it has all been thanks to the very hard work that everyone has been doing."

Missing players

Dortmund have just announced that key defender Nico Schlotterbeck will be out for what's left of the season. And he is not the only important player who won't be available for this tie. Flick isn't happy about that. "I always prefer to play against the best team possible" he said, insisting that injuries are never a good thing, even when they are to opposing players.
