Another record for Hansi Flick's Barça. Following Saturday’s game with Betis, the 22nd of the calendar year, they still have not lost in any of the four competitions they’ve played in, one of which they have already won while things are on fine course in the other three too, extending their lead in La Liga after the draw with Manuel Pellegrini's side. 22 games unbeaten is the same number that Luis Enrique’s side went without a loss to kick off 2016, one more and it will be an all-time club record.
18 wins, four draws
Barça have won 18 of the games played so far, almost the same record as under Luis Enrique nine years ago (19 wins, three draws). Only Atalanta in the Champions League (2-2), Getafe in La Liga (1-1), Atlético Madrid in the Copa del Rey (4-4), and Betis (1-1) in La Liga have managed to avoid defeat to the incredible class of ‘25.
In the league, and since that draw with Getafe, Barça put together a run of nine straight wins before Saturday's 1-1 result against Betis at the Estadi Olímpic.
Closing in on bigger things
The above stats refer to games played from the start of a calendar year, but the current team are also enjoying one of the best unbeaten streaks in club history. There have only ever been six longer runs:
Luis Enrique (39 games, 2015/16)
Ernesto Valverde (29 games, 2017/18)
Josep Guardiola (28 games, 2010/11)
Marinus Michels (27 games, 1973/74)
Frank Rijkaard (24 games, 2005/06)
Ernesto Valverde (23 games, 2018/19)
