The Barça v Betis game grows ever closer and it looks like it might be a cracker. First and sixth in the table facing off. Betis are in the Europa League places with 47 points and are currently on a six game winning run. The game sees the two most in-form teams in the league going head to head.
Two months unbeaten
These six straight wins in LaLiga mean that's now two months without tasting defeat. Betis are in a very good moment of form, which includes qualifying for the Conference League quarterfinal stage. The last time the green-and-whites lost in LaLiga was a 3-2 defeat at the Balaídos stadium away to Celta Vigo.
Looking to make history
However, Betis have been on a six game winning run before. Three other times in fact – twice in the 20th century (1934 and 1960) – and most recently in 2018 when Quique Setién was coach, going on to finish sixth in the table that season.
So, it's the fourth different season that Betis have put six wins in a row together. A win this weekend at the Estadi Olímpic would actually mean they make history with their first ever seven game winning run in the domestic competition. Pellegrini's men will prove tough opponents so the blaugranes' defence is likely to be put to the test. They have scored more than one goal in each of those six wins, but there is some good news for Barça as their key man in attacking areas, Isco, has to sit out the game due to suspension for accumulating five yellow cards.
Barça on 21 game unbeaten run
Barça are also in very good form. The midweek win to go through to the Copa del Rey final makes it now 21 games unbeaten. This weekend's game can prove pivotal for blaugrana records, too, because if Flick's side win or draw, that would be 22 games unbeaten in all competitions, equalling the best ever start to a calendar year achieved by Luis Enrique's Barça in 2016. A win would also mean a 10th consecutive victory in LaLiga.
