Five of the best from 2024

Five of the best from 2024

Wins against PSG, Real Valladolid, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund considered the top five for results and representing the blaugrana playing style

The year is drawing to an end and that means it's a great moment to look back. There have been some wonderful and not so wonderful moments throughout 2024, but all the same, Barça fans have been thrilled once again and able to savour many wins by the team. Whether it was due to the competition, the opponent, or the result, some of those victories were more special than others, and albeit somewhat of a difficult task, here is our choice for the blaugranes' best games from 2024:

The 2-3 in Paris

It had been four years since the last Champions League quarterfinal appearance, and Barça were back dining at the top table in Europe. With Xavi Hernández in charge at the time, the blaugranes managed to go through after putting Napoli out, getting PSG next in the draw. Definitely a tough opponent who would ultimately put an end to Barça's dreams of another CL trophy win, but the win at the Parc des Princes will live long in the memory.

The first leg saw FC Barcelona come home from Paris with a win. Two goals by Raphinha and one from Christensen helped the blaugranes to victory. Barça went ahead first, PSG came back with two goals after the break, before Barça scored two more goals of their own to leave with a 2-3 win.

The huge win against Real Valladolid

The current season began in fine fashion, with the blaugranes winning four out of four in the domestic league before the first international break. The last of those games saw Hansi Flick's side rout Real Valladolid 7-0 at the Estadi Olímpic, one of the biggest wins in recent history. Fans enjoyed goals from Raphinha (3), Lewandowski, Kounde, Olmo, and Ferran Torres.

The brilliant win against Bayern Munich

Another notable match at the Estadi Olímpic was the 4-1 victory against Bayern Munich. For the first time in nine years, the blaugranes managed to beat a team that had become somewhat of a nemesis. Flick's team played out of this world in the game, showing they can mix it with the best. One of the leading lights that night was Raphinha. The Brazilian confirmed his status as one of the world's best forwards at present, showing verve, decisiveness and desire to score a hat-trick.

Four goals in El Clásico

Wearing a jersey featuring the Coldplay logo on the front, Barça wanted to pay their own tribute to a song that provided the soundtrack to the best period in the Club's history. Playing very attractive football once again, the blaugranes were much better than the all-whites at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, running out 0-4 winners. It was likely the best week of the year for the fans, coming just five days after the home win against Bayern Munich. Raphinha again took centre stage, but this time Lamine Yamal and Lewandowski grabbed the goals.

The notable 2-3 in Dortmund

Barça claimed one of their best wins of the year just over two weeks ago. Flick's side won 2-3 away to Borussia Dortmund while putting on a top class performance. The home side didn't make it easy at all, but Barça persevered to come through to win thanks to Ferran Torres' exploits off the bench.

The win meant that with two more CL league phase matchdays to go, Barça are currently close to qualifying directly for the last 16. They can also say that they have beaten both last season's winner and finalists in the past few months.
