Busy January ahead

2025 is certainly going to be a busy time at Barça, with the team competing not only in LaLiga, but also in the Champions League, Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup..
Copa del Rey debut
Barça start 2025 this Saturday at 7pm CET away to lower league outfit Barbastro in the round of 32 of the Copa del Rey. And if they can get through that test, as they did against the same team a year ago, albeit not without difficulties (the game finished 3-2), the round of 16 encounter, also to be played over a single leg, will be played later on in the same month (January 14-15-16).
Super Cup
Once that game is over, the team will be heading to Saudi Arabia for the Spanish Super Cup. As last year's LaLiga runners-up, they will face the cup winners Athletic Club in the semi-final on Wednesday 8, and should they win that, they'll be opting for the first silverware of the Hansi Flick era when they face either Real Madrid or Mallorca in Sunday's final.
Champions League
With five wins and a single loss, Barça are already assured of a place in the knockout rounds of the UCL, as well as being brilliantly poised for a top-eight finish that would earn them a bye into the last sixteen. But they need to make sure of that in two tricky games. The first is away to a side that have given them problems in the past, Benfica, at the Stadium of Light on January 21, and week later on January 29, they close out the League Phase at home to Serie A leaders Atalanta.
Two LaLiga games
And amid all that activity, there are also two league games to think about. After a poor run of results, Barça have dropped from first to third in the competition, and their campaign finally resumes on January 18 or 19 with what is never an easy trip to Getafe.
Unless Barça get drawn at home in a theoretical Copa del Rey round of 16 game, there won't be any football happening at the Estadi Olímpic until as late as the weekend of January 25-26, when struggling Valencia will be the guests.
