Fans and a group of expert pundits have decided that Lamine Yamal is one of the players in The Best FIFA Men's 11 that will be presented at The Best awards organised by FIFA. That's quite something for a player who is just 17 years of age. Meanwhile, the women's 11 includes a staggering six different Barça players.
Another accolade
The Catalan starlet has been collected all kinds of honours this year. Indeed, just this last Sunday he collected the Golden Boy trophy at the Estadi Olímpic from Italian paper Tuttosport, which recognises him as the best young player in the world.
He was also one of the main attractions at the Ballon d'Or ceremony last October 28 in Paris, where he not only won the Kopa Trophy, but was also in the Top 10 for the overall best player, the first under 18 player ever to be ranked among the elite.
Starting young
This comes after a year in which Lamine Yamal has set all kinds of records for his age, including becoming the youngest player ever to appear in the knockout stages of the Champions League and the youngest to score a goal in El Clásico.
He also helped Spain to win Euro 24, becoming the youngest debutant and scorer for his country, and the youngest player to win a major international trophy at international level.
And now he has yet another honour to his name. It's been an incredible year for the teenager, and 2025, the year he becomes an adult, holds plenty of promise for many more great things to come.
