Christensen: 'I am on the right path to return'

Dane's recovery includes a small operation to speed up his comeback

"I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel". Andreas Christensen was clear and honest about his recovery process during an exclusive interview with the Club. FC Barcelona's number 15 was reported to be experiencing left Achilles tendon issues on August 24th.

From that moment onwards, Christensen has had to focus on his recovery away from the day-to-day of first-team activities. The process is progressing in line with expectations and he has turned a corner, as he confirmed during an interview at the Ciutat Esportiva. "We did a small surgery. It's so small that it can be considered cleaning. Nothing that's going to affect my timeline. If so, it's actually going to make it a bit faster. I don't want to put pressure on myself, but it's going in the right direction", explained the defender after not discussing his situation in public for some time.

"Now it's about building on every day"

"To start to feel confident and comfortable in different movements will be next step, so I hope they'll see me very soon. It's a work in progress", he went on. More steps to come back as assured as possible. It's not an easy path all the same, as Christensen himself expressed, "I'm not enjoying it, but I am looking forward to every day, it's a day less every day".

The goal is very clear – to be available for Hansi Flick – and he is understandably currently frustrated by having to watch Barça's games from the sidelines. However, his current focus is on fully recovering to return to the big stage, "Right now, it's very much the focus, like he also tells me, that it's very important that I come back 100%".
