Gavi has come on as a substitute already since returning from injury, but this Saturday brings his first start for over a year as Barça take on Celta at Balaidos. Hansi Flick has sensibly taken the young midfielder's return with caution, but with the player's knee issues now well and truly resolved, the time has come to see how he fares over 90 minutes.
It was 383 days ago that Gavi suffered a cruciate ligament injury at the Volksparkstadion, where Barça were playing Shakthar Donetsk in the Champions League. He made his comeback against Sevilla, and since then has played a total of 49 minutes across games with Real Madrid, Espanyol and Real Sociedad in the league and Bayern Munich and Red Star in Europe.
