The announcement of the winner of the Golden Boy 2024 award grows ever closer. An event at the Casina Posta in Roma saw the 25 finalists for the 'Best young player' award announced, and it includes two blaugranes in Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsí.
After an outstanding season breaking records and winning the Euros this summer, Lamine Yamal has the profile to win the trophy. All the same, Pau Cubarsí is also in with a good chance given his performances at centre-back and the Olympic gold win with Spain. Who ends up finally lifting the trophy will be resolved on 16 December at a gala event in Turin.
The young blaugrana forward was already honoured at the previous edition of the awards on being presented with the Youngest Boy trophy, which was created exclusively to acknowledge the youngest player on the Golden Boy list.
The event also saw the announcement of the Golden Girl finalists, which include three blaugranes - 18 year old Vicky López, Swiss midfielder Sydney Schetenleib and Italian box-to-box midfielder Giulia Dragoni, currently on loan to Roma.
