Frenkie de Jong was back in action tonight for the first time in 162 days. He hadn't played since the Clásico at the Santiago Bernabéu on April 22, when he injured his right ankle in a clash with Fede Valverde.
After a hard five months battling to get fit again, the Dutch midfielder came on for the final 18 minutes (injury time included) of the emphatic 5-0 defeat of Young Boys in Tuesday's Champions League encounter, replacing Lamine Yamal.
When he started warming up and even more so when he made his long-awaited entrance, the Estadi Olímpic gave the player a thoroughly deserved ovation. Great to have you back, Frenkie!
