After a defeat it is always necessary to front up and that is exactly what Barça coach Hansi Flick did following the 2-1 defeat in the Stade Louis II against Monaco in the Champions League. The German coach admitted "the sending off changed the game completely", referring to Eric Garcia's 10th minute red card.
Flick also admitted that Monaco "deserved the win" after teenager Ilenikhena grabbed a second half winner for Adi Hütter's team. The Barça boss is looking ahead despite the defeat: "We have to look at what happened but we have to be proud even though we are disappointed. Now we have to focus on Sunday's challenge."
That challenge is a game against Villarreal away from home in La Liga, a fixture which is followed by Barça's first home game of the Champions League season against Young Boys on 1 October, the beginning of the "remaining seven games" referred to by Hansi Flick in his post-game press conference.
