On 29 August 2004, Anderson Luis de Souza, 'Deco' made his debut in a Barça shirt at the age of 27, twenty years ago today.
The Portuguese international and current Director of Football at FC Barcelona played in official competition for the first time for the blaugranes in a league game at the start of the 2004/05 season away at Racing Santander. Starting the game in midfield alongside Xavi Hernández in midfield, Deco played his part in an excellent win for Barça thanks to goals from Samuel Eto'o and Ludovic Giuly.
That day was followed by another 160 appearances as a blaugrana in which Deco won 2 league titles, 1 Champions League and two Spanish Super Cups. Wearing the number 20 shirt the midfielder stood out for his tactical intelligence and his winning mentality in an all conquering Barça side.
