Robert Lewandowski is still hot on the trail of the top goalscorer trophy in la Liga, the coveted Pichichi trophy. He is still trailing Girona's Artem Dovbyk (20) and Real Madrid's Jude Bellingham (18), but with 17 goals of his own, he is very much still in contention.
Dovbyk leads the way
Girona's Ukrainian frontman moved four ahead of Barça's Polish striker with a powerful header when the two clubs came head-to-head on Saturday. But Lewy responded later on in the half by expertly slotting a penalty kick past Gazzaniga.
Earlier in the day, Jude Bellingham had scored one of his own side's three goals against Cadiz, so all three main candidates ended the weekend the way it has begun. And we mustn't forget Villarreal's Alexander Sorloth, who didn't score this time round but is still matched for goals with Lewandowski and harbours hopes of his own.
Lewy in form
Barça's candidate is certainly going into the final games with his goalscoring form intact. It looked like he was losing ground, but a hat-trick against Valencia last week has fired him right back into the midst of the battle, leap.frogging all of Gorka Guruzeta, Álvaro Morata, Ante Budimir and Borja Mayoral in the process.
Barça still have games to play against Real Sociedad (H) Almería (A), Rayo Vallecano (H) and Sevilla (A), all of which, curiously, are teams that Lewandowski failed to score against in the reverse fixture. Time to set those records straight and in doing so mount a final challenge for the Pichichi trophy that he already won once in his first season in La Liga.
