Marc-André ter Stegen came so close to making club history. Vinicius's penalty after 18 minutes of Sunday's Clásico was the first league goal that he had conceded in 601 minutes of football, just 35 minutes short of the record of 636 that he himself set the season before. On both occasions, Real Madrid have been the side to end his runs, which equated to no fewer than six consecutive clean sheets in each case.
Two months unbeaten
Nobody had scored against the German in the domestic championship Since Bar¡a visited Celta Vigo on February 17. Iago Aspas beat Ter Stegen in the 47th minute of that game and nobody managed to follow suit until the ill-fated encounter at the Bernabeu.
Chasing the Zamora
Ter Stegen went on to concede two more goals in the game which has dented his chances of retaining the Zamora trophy that he won last year for having the best goalkeeping record in the Spanish top flight. He now has a record of 20 goals in 21 games, a coefficient of 0.95 a game, which is just short of Unai Simón's 0.90 goals a game after conceding 28 in 31 matches.
It's a tight battle, with the added condition that Ter Stegen would need to play all six remaining games in order to fulfil the minimum quota of 28 required to be eligible. The Barça goalie missed a large chunk of games this season due to a back injury.
