Barça's run in the Champions League came to an end at the quarter-final stage against Paris Saint-Germain. The red card for Ronald Araujo after half an hour was too big a setback for Xavi Hernández's team, having to play an hour against the French champions a man down. It was bitter pill to swallow for the blaugranes who had been desperate to make it a night to remember for the fans.

The culers got behind the team from before the game right until the very end. Not just in the record attendance in the second leg at the Estadi Olímpic but also in the first leg in Paris in the Parc des Princes. The support from the fans was noted in the dressing room and despite the excellent result in the game in the French capital, everyone knew that the second leg would be tough and that the team needed everyone behind them.
The game itself proved that Barça fans were up to the task. A crowd of 50,309 was a record for Montjuïc, surpassing the 50,301 fans who witnessed the home leg in the previous round against Napoli and the 50,112 who saw the Clásico against Real Madrid.
The result was not the one expected but the fans stayed behind to applaud the team, support them and thank them for their efforts. The players, downcast after elimination, responded to the gesture for the fans with a message that they would be back sooner rather than later.
Proud of you.
