The 17th European Championship groups have been drawn. Many blaugrana players are likely to be called up to their national sides to play and potentially win the competition. Before that though, there is the small issue of getting through the group stage. Luckily, however, although three teams are still to be decided, every Barça player seems to have a good chance of being in the following round as none have been drawn together in the groups.
The only players who could potentially face each other are Frenkie de Jong and Robert Lewandowski, should the Poles manage to qualify. They would be in group D, definitely a potential so-called "group of death" (Netherlands, Austria, France and the winner of Play-off A).
Luis de la Fuente's Spain side with significant blaugrana representation have also been drawn in a difficult group. "La Roja" have to qualify from a group featuring Croatia, Italy and Albania (group B).
The other blaugranes who could feature are Ter Stegen and Gundogan with Germany in group A, Christensen with Denmark in group C, and Joao Félix and Joao Cancelo in group F.
How the group stage works
The 24 qualified teams have been split up into six groups of four national teams. Those finishing first and second in the group will go into the last 16. They will be joined there by the four best third-placed teams in terms of points earned during the group stage.
There are still three spots up for grabs with the play off semi-finals on 21 March 2024 and the finals on 26 March 2024. The three winning teams will join the other 21 already selected in the groups for Euro2024.
