Pedri first goalscorer of the 23/24 league season
FC Barcelona won their first competitive match at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, with Pedri and Ferran Torres scoring the goals (2-0). Pedri scored the first after 82 minutes, which was also the first goal scored for the team in the 23/24 league season. This was the first time the Canary Island midfielder has scored the first goal of a league season in his four seasons at the Club. Now he knows what it feels like and he has now scored 10 goals since Xavi Hernández became coach, 7 of which came when the score was 0-0.
Pedri takes over from Lewandowski
Robert Lewandowski was the first goalscorer in the 2022/23 league season, also on matchday two, but this time against Real Sociedad. He also not only opened his goalscoring account, but nabbed a brace, scoring in both the 1st and 68th minute.
First goalscorers from La Masia
The 2021/22 and 2020/21 league seasons saw Piqué and Ansu Fati as first goalscorers respectively. 2021 saw the blaugrana central defender score a header from a cross in the 19th minute of the game against Real Sociedad. A year earlier, La Masia trained forward, Ansu Fati, scored the first competitive goal of the league season for the blaugranas in the win against Villarreal. He also went on to score the second goal of the game.
Griezmann, first goalscorer in his first season
The French forward started his spell in blaugrana with a great performance in the matchday two game of the 2019/20 league season. He scored two goals against Real Betis and provided an assist. The first Barça league goal of the season came in the 41st minute courtesy of the Frenchman.
A historic Messi goal
A year earlier, the 2018/19 season began with a low free kick goal by Messi against Alavés. While also being the first Barça goal of the league season, the Argentinian had also scored the team's 6000th league goal.
First game wins against Betis
The first blaugrana goal of the 2017 league season was an own goal by Alin Tosca from Real Betis. So, current captain Sergi Roberto scored the Club's first goal that league season, the Catalan sealing the win with the second of the game (2-0).
The previous year, also against Real Betis, saw Arda Turan score first for Barça in the 2016/17 league season after a cross by Jordi Alba.
Goalscoring starts by the "MSN" front three
Luís Suárez and Leo Messi were the first league goalscorers in the 2015/16 season against Athletic Club and 2014/15 season against Elche respectively. The 2015/16 "MSN" front three, comprised of Messi, Suárez and Neymar, scored 131 goals that season. Their total the previous season amounted to 122 goals, which helped the Club win the LaLiga, Copa del Rey and Champions League trophies.
Alexis scores first in the first league game with most goals scored
Ten years ago now in 2013, Barça made their best start to a league season by putting seven past Levante (7-0). The first goal of the game (and league season) came from Chilean forward Alexis Sánchez, who finished a Cesc Fàbregas assist.
