On two of the three occasions when FC Barcelona have started La Liga with a 0-0 draw, they have gone on to win the title

A point away from home is generally viewed as a good thing, but FC Barcelona always expect more, and the 0-0 draw with Getafe has left something of a bittersweet taste in the mouths of Barça fans. But at least it's a first point on the board in what is a marathon and not a sprint. In any case, last season also commenced with a 0-0 draw and things didn't turn out too badly in the end!

In 2005/06, Barça also started with a 0-0 draw against Alavés and also ended up winning the league title. So just because things haven't got off to the most ideal of starts is absolutely no reason to start worrying at such an early stage of the season.

First Liga in three years

On 13 August 2022, Barça were held to a no-score draw by Rayo Vallecano at Spotify Camp Nou. It was certainly a dent to the team's morale, but they would eventually cruise to the championship with 88 points, conceding just 20 goals and equalling the tournament record of 20 clean sheets.

Enormous year

In 2005/06, Frank Rijkaard's tenure as manager started with a 0-0 draw against Alavés. That campaign got off to a horribly slow start for the Catalans, but they still ended up winning the club's 18th league title with an impressive 82 points, while also winning the Champions League for just the second time.

There has only ever been one other instance when Barça started the season with a goalless draw, and that was in 2007/08, when neither themselves nor Racing Santander could find the net at the Sardinero. That campaign didn't end quite so well as the other two cases, with Barça eventually having to settle for third place
