FC Barcelona's Liga by the numbers

The Catalans won the league and set a number of records in the process... Let's take stock of a fabulous 2022/23

La Liga 2022/2023 is over and FC Barcelona were crowned champions for the first time in four years. And they did it playing sublime football in both attack and defence, and leaving all kinds of stats that will go down in the history books:

88 points

After losing 3 of their last 4 games, Barça eventually finished the league on 88 points, ten more than their closest chaser, Real Madrid. That means they end up just short of Napoli (90) and Manchester City (89), but with more than PSG (85) and Bayern Munich (71) in Europe's top five leagues.

26 clean sheets

Ter Stegen has been outstanding in this campaign and in no fewer than 26 games he was unbeaten, enough to equal Paco Liaño's record from the 93/94 season. Unfortunately, the drop in intensity over the final matches is probably the reason why the German was unable to beat the record, in a season in which he was ultimately only beaten 18 times.

17 different goalscorers

The 70 goals scored in the competition were distributed as follows: Lewandowski (23), Raphinha (7), Ansu Fati (7), Pedri (6), Dembele (5), Ferran (4), Roberto (4), Gavi (2), De Jong (2) ), Jordi Alba (2), Balde (1), Kounde (1), Kessie (1), Eric (1), Marcos Alonso (1), Christensen (1) and Memphis (1).

23 goals for the Pichichi

Robert Lewandowski finished top scorer in his first season in the competition. The Pole's 23 goals in 38 games equate to one every 124 minutes. He scored six braces while all the other 11 goals were single ones in a game.

3,348 minutes for Ter Stegen

The German was by far the player who got the most game time over the season. He started every single match. In second place we find Robert Lewandowski with 2,851 minutes and in third comes Gavi with 2,541.

7 assists for Dembélé, Raphinha and Lewandowski

Three different players made seven goal passes in the league, out of the 56 in total. That means 37.5% of the assists came those three players. Balde is just behind with six, and there were four each for Frenkie, Busquets and Gavi.

84 saves by Ter Stegen

Marc Andre Ter Stegen won the Zamora with an average of 0.48 goals per game, and had he not played against Celta in the final game he would have been confirmed as having the very best coefficient in league history. And some of his total of 84 saves have been simply spectacular this season, and have proved decisive for winning a number of important points.

2,257 passes by Frenkie De Jong

The Dutch midfielder has been the pass master this campaign. The conductor of the blaugrana orchestra made an immense 2,257 passes this year, and 91.45% of them were good. He was followed by Sergio Busquets with 1,933 (88.67%) and Jules Kounde with 1,853 (88.83%).

15 wins at Spotify Camp Nou

Barça won 15 of their 19 games at the stadium, a 79% win rate. They were held to three draws by Rayo, Espanyol and Girona, while Real Sociedad was the only team to win there. With 48 points out of a possible 57, the home factor clearly played a big part in this season's success.

25 years and 169 days, present and future

There was a much rejuvenated look to the squad this season, and youngest XI played this season averaged 24 years and 45 days. That was the side that lined up against Real Sociedad: Ter Stegen, Araujo, Christensen, Eric, Balde, Frenkie de Jong, Gavi, Pedri, Ferran, Dembélé and Lewandowski. Of the 11 most used players this term, five were under 25 years of age: Gavi (18), Balde (19), Pedri (20), Araujo (23) and Kounde (24). Another three are still in their mid twenties: De Jong (25), Christensen (26) and Raphinha (26). The three most used veterans were Ter Stegen (30), Lewandowski (34) and Sergio Busquets (34).
