Marc Andre ter Stegen and his defence are on course for all kinds of records. One of them has already been matched with eight games still to play. That's the club record for clean sheets, which until now was held by Claudio Bravo, who in 2014/15 managed to complete 23 games without letting in a single goal. Today's 1-0 defeat of Atlético Madrid means that the German stopper has already reached that tally in just 30 of the 38 games the team will play this season.
In the Chilean goalkeeper's stellar season he was beaten just 19 times. Amazingly, Ter Stegen has let in just nine goals. There are still games to play, beginning with the trip to Rayo Vallecano this week, but if Barça maintain the kind of form they have been showing until now, not only will the German be able to set a new record for shutouts, but he should also be able to challenge the club record for the fewest goals conceded.
