60th Copa del Rey semi final for FC Barcelona

Barça have made it to the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey thanks to their 1-0 win over Real Sociedad at Spotify Camp Nou. The blaugranes reach the semi-finals of the competition for the 60th time in their history and the tie will be played over two legs. 

Barça's 60th appearance in the last four comes after 119 appearances in the competition. Of those 59 semi-finals played, the blaugranes have made it to the final on 40 occasions with a 41st appearance possibly to come in 2022/23. 

In those 40 appearances in the final, Barça have won 29. The blaugranes have a total of 31 victories in the competition with the 1910 edition decided in a group format and in 1913 Barça went straight into the final. 

A near perfect decade 

If we look back at the last decade we can see that Barça have only failed to make the semi-final on two occasions. In 2019/20 and 2021/22 they were knocked out in both seasons by Athletic Club before the last four. 

In the decade Barça have won the trophy on five occasions, four in a row from 2015 to 2018 and lost in the final twice: in 2014 against Real Madrid and in 2019 against Valencia. 

The last time the blaugranes lost in the semi-finals was back in 2013 under Tito Vilanova when they were eliminated by Real Madrid.
