There was a double cause for celebrations in the advent of the Getafe game this Sunday.
The first was the display of the Spanish Super Cup trophy won against Real Madrid last weekend in Riyadh (Aràbia Saudita). Captain Sergio Busquets, followed by the rest of the squad, showed off the silverware to a Spotify Camp Nou that stood to chant 'champions, champions' as the players gathered for the traditional photo with the cup.
Then it was time to pay tribute to Busquets himself, who made his 700th appearance for the team while in Saudi Arabia, precisely when he came on as a substitute against Betis in the semi-final. President Joan Laporta was at hand to present the living legend with a commemorative shirt.
In the build-up to what is now his 703rd, Busquets was joined on the field by his children wearing shirts with the word ‘Papi’ (daddy) printed on them. A lovely moment.
