Riyadh is going to be the venue for a Clásico on Sunday. FC Barcelona have reached the Spanish Super Cup Final by beating Real Betis on penalties, a day after Real Madrid did likewise against Valencia. The 8pm CET kick-off also has a huge bearing on the all-time ranking in this contest. Barça could move two titles clear of Real Madrid (14-12), but if they lose, then the series will be tied on 13-13.
16th final against Real Madrid
It's five and a half years since the two clubs last met in a final. That was also in the Super Cup back in the days when it was a two-legged affair. Madrid won that one. In fact, in seven Super Cup finals against the all-whites, Barça have only emerged victorious once, in 2011, which was also the last time they beat their eternal rivals in any kind of final.
When it comes to Copa del Rey Finals, matters are more tightly matched. Real Madrid are still top overall, with 4 victories over Barça compared to three for the Catalans 1967/68 (1-0), 1982/83 (2-1) and 1989/90 (2-0). On Sunday, they'll be going for each other again in what promises to be a gripping encounter on Saudi Arabian soil.
