Sergi Roberto spoke to the media in Riyadh on Wednesday, the day before the Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Real Betis.
"We are in fine form after going top of the table at the Metropolitano and we are very much looking forward to the Super Cup with this format. We haven't won it since the new system was introduced, and that's an added motivation. And we have young players who haven't won anything yet and it would be a boost for morale going into the rest of the season. A trophy midway through the season would be nice."
"It's positive to come to Saudi Arabia as leaders because that means we're doing things right. I think this is a fine time to win a title. The team and me are very ambitious about what's left of the season, and we hope to end it with some trophies to lift."
Tough game
"Betis has being playing good football for quite a while. They have some quality players and it should be a wide-open game between two teams that like to have control of the ball. Hopefully we can dominate and win. It'll be a very nice game for the fans."
"And this would also be the first title since Xavi became manager. He set out his camp after he arrived and we have all worked hard, but it is titles that will really drive us higher. But we are going about things the right way and hopes are high for this week."
Having just got over fitness issues, Roberto added that "I hope 2023 starts as well as possible and I plan to do everything I can to help the team, in whatever way is needed. I hope to stay fit, because that will mean I can perform to my best. I don't think I have ever worked this hard."
