Since Xavi Hernández has been seated in the Spotify Camp Nou dugout, there have been no fewer than nine debutants in the FC Barcelona first team. Here they are in chronological order.
Ilias Akhomach
The derby with Espanyol last season was Xavi's very first game in charge, and he was already trying out new blood. The 17-year-old started the game and played the full first half wearing number 37. He has made three appearances in total.
Ferran Jutglà
The striker's first experience was at home to Osasuna last season, going on to amass nine first team appearances and scoring two goals before being sold to Bruges in the summer.
Álvaro Sanz
Sanz made his debut away to Mallorca last season, coming on as a a second half substitute for Nico González to form a midfield together with Riqui Puig and Frenkie de Jong. He's played four first team games in total.
Estanis Pedrola
Pedrola came on for Ilias Akhomach in the same game in Mallorca, playing on the right wing for the final minutes of the win.
Mika Mármol
The last of the 2021/23 season's newbies came on as late replacement for Alejandro Balde as a left-back on May 15 away to Getafe.
Héctor Bellerín
The former La Masia player, who had returned to the club after an 11-year absence, having made a name for himself at Arsenal, made his debut away to Cádiz. He has played 321 minutes of football this term.
Iñaki Peña
The Barça goalkeeper, back after a year on loan to Galatasaray, got his first start for Barça in the Champions League against Viktoria Plzen. The 23-year-old finally got his reward ten years after joining the Barça youth structure, having risen to become the second choice stopper under Xavi.
Marco Casadó
The Barça Atlètic player also got his first minutes against Viktoria Plzen, coming on in the 67th minute for Kessie and becoming 'Made in la Masia' graduate number 196.
Chadi Riad
The Moroccan became the ninth and, until now, final, newcomer of the Xavi era. The centre back is a regular part of Barça Atlètic under Rafa Márquez, and came on towards the end of the 2-1 win away to Osasuna.
