There has been a change of time for the Barça v Manchester City charity match next August 24 at Spotify Camp Nou. UEFA has requested that the game start at 9.30pm CEST, as opposed to 9.00pm as originally scheduled.
This is much more than a game of football. It is a tribute in solidarity with former goalkeeper and coach Juan Carlos Unzué, who was diagnosed just over two years ago with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), a neurodegenerative disease for which there is no known cure.
Tickets are available from the club website for between 19 and 99 euros depending on the category. Donations can also be made to the Luzón Foundation from the same place.
As well as the game between two of Europe’s finest teams, this is also an opportunity to raise awareness of the illness and also funds for its research. It is the outcome of president Joan Laporta and City coach Pep Guardiola’s commitment to such a worthy cause.
