It’s been a record-breaking Clásico for Gavi. In his first game against Real Madrid at senior level at the age of just 17 years and 79 days, he has become the second youngest player to appear in the fixture in the 20th century, only topped by Ansu Fati, and the youngest of all to actually start the game.
This is just the latest in a series of records next to Gavi’s name since he made his debut on August 29 against Getafe. After appearing in seven Liga games and three more in the Champions League, he now knows what it is like to face Real Madrid in the biggest club fixture of all.
What’s more, he also recently became the youngest player ever to play for Spain when he appeared (and excelled) in the Final Four of the UEFA Nations League.
Gavi and his teammate Pedri are also among the twenty players still in contention to win the Golden Boy award presented by Italian daily Tuttosport to honour the best young player of the year
