Ter Stegen excels against Cádiz

The German goalkeeper made three important saves in the game to keep a first clean sheet of the season

Marc ter Stegen left his mark in the Nuevo Mirandilla making vital saves at important moments in the contest against Cádiz to record a first clean sheet of the season for Barça.

Important saves from first Negredo and then Salvi helped the blaugranes secure a point after Ronald Koeman's side had been reduced to 10 men due to the red card shown to midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

The first save from Negredo was typical Ter Stegen - reaching high to his right in mid-air to turn away a shot that appeared destined for the top corner. The stop from Salvi was another from the German's extensive repetoire, saving with his feet as he came out to narrow. No less important was a save in the final minute of injury time at the end of the game from Cádiz defender Chust. Three shots on goal for the home side in 90 minutes and on all three occasions they were denied by excellent saves from Ter Stegen.

The German's performance helped the blaugranes to a first clean sheet of the season and it also comes as no surprise to find that he is third best in the squad for completed pass percentage, so good is he with the ball at his feet. In his eighth season at FC Barcelona, Marc ter Stegen maintains the excellent form that has established him as one of the best keepers in the world.
