Gavi, Balde and Demir won’t be forgetting Tuesday in a hurry. Despite the painful defeat to Bayern, the trio got to make their Champions League debuts and in doing so accomplish a peculiar stat: they were three of the five youngest players to feature in Matchday 1 of the current Champions League.
Only Youssoufa Moukoko of Borussia Dortmund was younger, while Jude Bellingham of the same team was fourth
What’s more Pedri also featured in the Top Ten as the ninth youngest player.
Gavi has yet to turn 18, while Balde, Demir and Pedri only did so fairly recently. One thing is sure, there is plenty of young up-and-coming talent to look forward to enjoying at FC Barcelona
