Frenkie de Jong was a big star in the Copa del Rey final against Athletic Club. The midfielder's performance drew rave reviews, as he and his teammates went on to lift their first trophy of the season and the 31st Copa in club history.
De Jong has a hand in all four goals
The Dutch midfielder took part in all four Barça goals, assisting Griezmann from the right for the opener. Shortly after, he scored to make it 0-2, before assisting Leo Messi (0-3) and participating at the start of the play which ended with the fourth goal. De Jong completed 67 passes to his teammates and four dribbles.
The first Dutchman to score for Barça in a Copa final
De Jong's goal -Barça's second of the game- also carried historic significance. He became the first Dutchman to score in a Copa del Rey final for the club. Only one other player hailing from the Netherlands has found the net previously on such an occasion: Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink with Atletico Madrid in 1999/2000.
