Barça are off to La Cartuja stadium in Seville in search of a title in the Andalusian capital for the first time in 96 years.
Since beating Arenas in the 1925 cup final, the Catalans have returned to the city to play in three other finals, all at different stadiums, and have lost them all. Victory against Athletic Club on Saturday would end the ‘curse’.
1925: Copa del Rey Final at the Reina Victoria (Seville)
FC Barcelona 2-0 Arenas Club de Getxo
1986: European Cup Final at the Sánchez Pizjuán (Seville)
FC Barcelona 0-0 Steaua Bucharest (Steaua won on penalties)
2019: Copa del Rey Final at the Benito Villamarín
FC Barcelona 1-2 Valencia
2021: Spanish Super Cup Final at La Cartuja
FC Barcelona 2-3 Athletic Club (after extra time)
Barça have also visited Seville three times in the Spanish Super Cup when it was played over two legs. They won on two of those occasions and in all three went on to lift the trophy at Camp Nou.
2005: Real Betis 0-3 FC Barcelona (Barça went in to win 5-1 on aggregate)
2010: Sevilla 3-1 FC Barcelona (Barça went on to win 5-3 on aggregate)
2016: Sevilla 0-2 FC Barcelona (Barça went on to win 5-0 on aggregate)
